Da Vinci and my Favorite Movie

Have you ever seen the movie Ever After?  The one with  Drew Barrymore?  If not, you should.  It is one of my all time favorite movies.  I have watched it so many times I can quote a lot of it.  While visiting Clos Luce in Amboise a lot of things in that movie started to make sense.
Did you know that Francis I invited Leonardo Da Vinci to come and live at Clos Luce?  Da Vinci ended up living here for the last 3 years of his life.

While living here Da Vinci continued to think, sketch and invent.

There is a beautiful park full of his inventions.

Here we are ready for some fun.

Except this guy, he decided that this would be a great place to take a nap.

I love our adventures, our life is never boring.

Addie has become quite the ham for pictures, I love it.

The grounds are quite expansive, this is the view of the house from the gardens.

Paddle boats, I wish we could have taken them for a spin, but not this time.

This is the swing on the playground.  It is so fun that the parents can join in the fun too.

In the house they have Da Vinci's quotes up all around the house.

Here is his bed, so cozy!

Does this look familiar?  It is the basis for the photo at the end of Ever After.

The black and white detail on the edge of this desk was so stunning.

The ceiling in the chapel

This tapestry was HUGE, it was amazing how it went around the corner.

From here you can see the Chateau d'Amboise, where Da Vinci is buried.

This is a very interesting place to visit and a great stop if you are visiting the Loire Valley with kids.  The hands on adventures in the park are a great way for them to interact with history.
